David Žahour

Data analysis & AI

I am currently working on developing several components for the Keboola tool. At the same time, I help build tools, utilities and applications for analytics, where I work on the backend of applications if they are not already available as open-source or on the marketplaces of the tools themselves. I mostly work together with Michal on these activities.

My role comes into play most often when our clients have non-standard/specific needs, or there is a need to go more in-depth, as the services provided by existing tools are not always enough in such cases. At that point we are able to develop a proprietary solution to the problem. This is advantageous when clients do not have many alternative solutions to a given problem and simply require programming work.

Popular tools and services

I work primarily in the Python scripting language, using JetBrains’ PyCharm development environment. I use PyCharm as it is a very robust development environment even for larger applications and allows for easy integration and collaboration when working in a team. I also use Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) when my work requires a Linux environment. Of course, I can’t leave out the classic command line where I handle the server.

How did it all start?

I started working as an embedded developer at Data-trace net, where I designed single-chip boards while programming microcontrollers. After that experience, I worked at Nvias as a development team leader, while mentoring educational clubs for kids. The years 2019-2021 I worked at Newton technologies a.s., where I worked on automatic speech-to-text translation followed by machine translation. Hence, I have been working as a programmer for a long time, specifically since I was 15 years old. I joined Archetix at the beginning of 2022. At the mention of an unsuccessful interview at another firm, I was immediately recruited by Mark in a somewhat unconventional setting – a swimming pool.

Hobbies and interests outside of work

I am currently working on my undergraduate thesis, which is research on the Image Segmentation from Medical Videos. I am collaborating on the construction of a CubeSat, where I am designing an experiment to measure the resistance of microchips to alpha and beta radiation. I am still trying to be involved to some extent in the Pilsen Hydrogen Team, where I was a founder in the past. This team is exploring the possibilities of using hydrogen fuel cells in the field of mobility. I work as an AI expert consultant in the European AI social lab project. I also mentor courses on the basics of artificial intelligence.

I regularly attend athletics and mentor climbing. I am not a person who travels to cities, I prefer natural sights. I really enjoy mountain climbing, where I do activities ranging from rock climbing to hiking. In my spare time, I like to go to the theater to watch ballet.

In the future, I will be going to Denmark as part of the Erasmus+ program to study cybernetics in the field of linear algebra for data science and several other mathematical subjects.
